Why the Conference

Consciousness is the present frontier to which all the sciences and social sciences are converging. In spite of all the research going on there is not enough clarity and understanding about this field. Despite the attention this topic has received in religions and schools of philosophy, most of what has been said seems to be speculative and symbolic. Krishnamurti’s completely new perspective is rational, cohesive and lucidly descriptive and explanatory of the inner processes of man and their relationship to the outer phenomena. He states the problem of a crisis in consciousness in terms of the conditioning of the brain and the limitation of thought and memory. He postulates that only a radical transformation of consciousness will lead to the discovery of an intelligence that is not conditioned by thought and time and can resolve the problems of the individual and society.
Krishnamurti ‘s approach seems to involve a holistic model that has positive implications for research and application in varied fields of study and human endeavor. The aim of this conference is to further the understanding of this critical, if little understood field and to explore the ways in which K’s perspective aids this purpose.
